Botswana has one of the world's highest economic growth rates, a stable government and a reputation for working to resolve conflicts that have plagued neighboring states. But it also suffers from one of the lowest life expectancies on earth, with over a third of the population infected with HIV/AIDS.
Scientologists from Joburg, and around South Africa decided to help their neighbor to the north with a Scientology Volunteer Minister Goodwill Tour. For the past four months they have been introducing the people of this country to simple yet effective Scientology techniques to improve conditions in life.
Beginning in the capital city of Gaborone, the tour moved on to Francistown and is now preparing to set up operations in Maun, the third city of their Botswana tour. They work with parents, students, teachers, community groups and government organizations, presenting seminars and courses. Since beginning four months ago they have introduced over 16,000 people to Scientology technology, opened 14 Volunteer Minister groups and helped establish the first Church of Scientology Mission in Botswana.
After the training which the Volunteer Ministers provided to the 15th District Police Force, the commanding officer expressed his appreciation and positive recognition of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, thanking them for providing life-saving human development courses. He went on to praise the work of Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard as he feels the technology Mr. Hubbard developed can revive and improve society.
