The Church’s bookstore displays Mr. Hubbard’s prolific writings and recorded lectures on Dianetics and Scientology. In total, the scriptures of Scientology contain more than 40 million words about the mind and spirit — all written by, or recorded from the lectures of L. Ron Hubbard.

Like many rooms, the bookstore contains uniquely designed and handcrafted African carvings on the shelves. The motif throughout the new Church has a definite African design and flavour.

A sitting room and conference room were designed near the Coffee Shop to provide a meeting place for civic leaders and for committee meetings in connection with the many community activities that Johannesburg Scientologists have participated in for many years.

These projects include literacy programs, anti-drug initiatives and other charitable activities — some of which have been spearheaded by Joburg Scientologists for over a decade.

Church members take part in a wide range of social interaction projects. Facilities like the chapel and lounge are available to civic representatives and other community organizations for meetings, activities and events.

Course rooms for students new to Scientology provide a broad range of courses which show how to apply the principles of Scientology to attain greater spiritual freedom.

The old Golf Course Club House dance hall with a solid wooden dance-floor has become the Church’s main course room. With 8 additional course rooms, the Continental Church has space to service more than 200 students at any time of day.
