Constitution, Bill of Rights and Penal Code L. Ron Hubbard proffered to the nations of South Africa and Rhodesia in the name of equality, stability and fundamental human rights.

Inevitably, of course, Ron’s stance on what ruling Whites termed the “native question” led to considerable trouble. To wit: Ron was to be effectively barred from Rhodesia as a willful threat to white supremacy. And, in fact, the charge was valid.

What he stood for and what he fought for was, indeed, nothing less than political and spiritual freedom for all African people. Which, incidentally, accounts for why he was so thoroughly gratified when, a decade later, his educational tools were introduced into native schools for the benefit of some two million Black African children.

Members of his Rhodesian household staff affectionately called him “Rhino,” because he was strong and unwavering, and because of the way in which he charged through the bush in an old Land Rover. When members of that same staff first examined Ron’s organizing board (adopted from the Scientology organizing board) they were said to have grown “at least two feet right on the spot.” For no longer were they “servants,” but were instead domestic professionals with honorable duties and authority. Lastly, when he finally bid farewell to those people, their faces were tracked with tears.

L. Ron Hubbard’s chauffeur Frank Masiko said: “I pray to God with tears in my eyes that you will come back to this country and emancipate us. Everyone who worked for you is wishing you the best of everything, and hope you won’t forget Africa and its troubles.”
